A Brief Background of V.S.K. Ryu Jiu Jitsu

V.S.K. Ryu Jiu Jitsu is a system of martial arts founded by Grandmaster Anthony Muhammad. The system is rooted in the systems of his teachers, Grandprofessor Florendo M. Visitacíon (Grandprofessor Vee), Dr. Moses Powell (Master Musa Muhammad), and Soke Lil’ John Davis. 

• The “V” stands for Vee Jitsu Ryu Jiu Jitsu, which translates literally as “The Art of Vee.” Grandprofessor Vee established this system of Jiu Jitsu. 
• “S” is for Sanuces, which means “Survival and Simplicity.” Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu was developed by Dr. Moses Powell (a premier disciple of Grandprofessor Vee). It is termed as “The Eye-to-Eye Art.” 
• The “K” stands for Kumite Ryu Jiu Jitsu, which means “The Way or Art of Fighting,” and was founded by Soke Lil’ John Davis, a world renowned student of Dr. Moses Powell. Grandmaster Anthony Muhammad combined 40 years of study of these systems of Jiu Jitsu, along with his studies of: boxing, Kung Fu, Karate, Aikido, Kali and Arnis to develop V.S.K. Ryu Jiu Jitsu. 
• United Schools of Survival (U.S.O.S.) is the federation headed by Grandmaster Anthony Muhammad under the auspices and permission of Dr. Moses Powell and Soke Lil’ John Davis. It is inclusive of many different martial artists and systems.
